One super awesome front-end developer from the Chatham/Springfield, IL area
Hey! I'm Tyler Winters, and I'm a front-end web developer and digital accessibility specialist, passionate and dedicated to crafting exceptional user experiences. With over 10 years of professional experience, I've honed the skills and knowledge necessary to make any project a success. From creating accessible and innovative websites and apps to building dynamic portfolios and blogs, I enjoy every step of the process—from discussion and collaboration to development and implementation. For what it's worth, my creativity and interests extend beyond code as I enjoy showcasing my love for music whether that's work from my old band or sharing engaging stories, interviews, and music news on my podcast, Unplugged with Tyler Winters and John Pearman.
My Professional Experiences
I am a results-driven Front-End Web Developer with a passion for creating accessible systems and enhancing user experiences. My work includes AI-First Software Delivery, where I contribute directly to large-scale, cloud-hosted platforms that support complex business workflows, identity and authentication, and data-driven user experiences. In these environments, AI is embedded into the development lifecycle for code generation, testing, and workflow automation allowing teams to move faster while keeping quality and accessibility high. I work hands-on in front-end codebases using React, Next.js, and component-based UI frameworks, leveraging large language models (LLMs) and automation to accelerate development, validation, and iteration.
Below is a timeline highlighting key milestones and roles throughout my career, showcasing my growth and expertise in web development and accessibility.

Web Developer & Accessibility Specialist
I serve as an accessibility specialist and front-end engineer on large-scale, cloud-hosted web applications, ensuring compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and IITAA while contributing directly to production front-end code. My work spans modern AI-First software delivery environments, where AI is embedded into the development lifecycle for code generation, testing, and workflow automation, allowing teams to move faster while keeping quality and accessibility high. I help build and maintain business portals using React, Next.js, and component-based UI frameworks that support secure authentication, data-driven workflows, and complex user journeys, leveraging large language models (LLMs) and automation to accelerate development, validation, and iteration.
Accessibility is built into everything I do, not added at the end. I implement and review semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader compatibility as part of my everyday development work. Whether it's within my current development projects or through independent accessibility audits of client sites and applications that I am not directly building, I use JAWS, VoiceOver, axe-core, Lighthouse, and browser developer tools to identify issues automated scans miss. I produce clear, detailed audit reports with WCAG mappings, screenshots, and code-level remediation guidance so teams can resolve issues efficiently and correctly. I also remediate PDFs and Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for screen-reader compatibility.
In parallel, I work closely with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and QA teams to embed accessibility into Agile and CI/CD workflows. I also support business development by helping agencies and organizations assess accessibility risk, compliance gaps, and modernization opportunities across their web applications and digital platforms, advising on remediation strategy, accessibility governance, and long-term compliance.

My personal work
Around the end of Summer 2025, I began working full-time on a professional project that used an AI-First Software Development approach on a State of Illinois application. Since then, I've become a major fan and a strong proponent of this form of delivery and has changed the way I code forever. Using an AI agent as a true development partner from idea to launch helps me move faster, explore more creative solutions, and ship real products with more confidence.
AIFSD, when done right, is without a doubt the future of website and application development because it expands what one person can realistically build. It has given me confidence to create projects I never thought I'd be able to accomplish on my own and has turned me into a developing and creative monster. Honestly, developing has never been more fun.
Below is a list of a few personal projects I've been working on.

I used to be cool
From 2000 to 2005, I was part of a pop punk band called Yeti 242, hailing from Springfield, IL. We poured our hearts into writing catchy, melody-driven songs and prided ourselves on putting on high-energy, fun-filled live shows that brought our fans and friends together.
Yeti 242 wasn't just a band—it was a family, a creative outlet, and a way to leave our mark on the local music scene. Those years were unforgettable, and the songs we wrote still hold a special place in my heart. Take a listen and relive the spirit of pop punk that defined an era for us.
Listen to Unplugged
For years, my best friend and former bandmate, John Pearman, and I have been hosting Unplugged. What started as a way to share our love of music has turned into a weekly must-listen for fans of alternative rock, pop-punk, emo, indie, and even country.
Each week, we dive into the latest music news, share exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names and brightest up-and-comers in the scene, and, of course, throw in plenty of humor and sarcasm along the way. With our shared history in music, we like to think we bring a fresh perspective—one that's as informative as it is entertaining.
Whether you're here for the deep cuts or just to hang out with two best friends riffing on all things music, we've got you covered. Listen to Unplugged with Tyler Winters and John Pearman wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.
